Phal. Equalacea var coerulea
(Phal. equestris var cyanochilus 'Martel's Blue' X Phal. violacea 'SDO Violet) |
A unique Phal. Equalacea using equestris var cyanochilus and coerulea violacea as the parents. The equestris var cyanochilus does not contribute magenta pigments to its progeny. So many of these should be light blue. |

Phal. Jennifer Palermo var coerulea
(Phal. tetraspis var alba X Phal. violacea 'SDO Violet)
|
This
is our attempt at creating a coerulea Jennifer Palermo with our
best standard coerulea violacea. So far these have been fast growers,
exhibiting good hybrid vigor. The expectation is that most of
these will flower out bluish lavender.
As
with most tetrapsis hybrids, we expect that mature plants will
be ever blooming with heavier flushes in late spring and late
summer. |

Phal. Princess Kaiulani var coerulea
(Phal. amboinensis 'Snow Bird' X Phal. violacea 'SDO Violet')
|
This
is potentially a very interesting cross. Originally we weren't
expecting anything blue out of this cross, but recent imports
from Taiwan suggest that this line of breeding can result in some
very nice blue/purple pattering.
These
should have some really interesting colors. Some will probably
flower out the normal orange and yellow typical of Princess Kaiulani.
Some will potentially have some color from the coerulea violacea.
Unfortunately
we didn't plant out many flasks of this cross, so these are rather
limited. |

Example first bloom
|
This
is an experimental cross with the blue lipped equestris (var cyanochilus).
The tetraspis used is almost alba with the expectation of a slightly
lavender lip. The goal here is to get some pale blue lipped flowers.
Again the probability of getting blues out of this cross is low,
but these could be useful for future blue phal breeding.
This
should be a nice cross if you like primaries. So far these have been blooming out with lots of spots and some striping. They have been very flat for this type of breeding. These will bloom almost continuously once mature. |
